My Apple dongle (Macbook 2008) had some kind of short in it and had to be constantly adjusted to get the color to stay steady. I got this one for much cheaper and it works great. The cord is a lot longer than the Apple’s (about 8 inches) which could be a disadvantage for portability (or an advantage for reach). I am very satisfied with the price and performance.
